ABA 101 - What is ABA?
Join us for "ABA 101 - What is ABA?", a workshop designed for parents and caregivers to gain a foundational understanding of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). This session will provide an overview of ABA concepts and strategies used in behavioural intervention. Participants will learn about the functions of behaviour, the importance of positive reinforcement, and effective strategies to address challenging behaviours based on their functions.
During the workshop, we will explore:
Functions of Behaviour: Understanding why behaviours occur and how to identify their purposes.
Positive Reinforcement: Learning how to use reinforcement to encourage desirable behaviours.
Function-Based Strategies: Developing tailored strategies to address challenging behaviours by considering their functions.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with:
New function-based strategies to manage challenging behaviours.
Skills to assess antecedents (triggers) and consequences of behaviours.
Techniques to effectively utilize positive reinforcement.
Tech Requirements: Participants must have the ability to connect to Microsoft Teams using a computer or handheld device, such as a tablet or cellphone.
