To demonstrate commitment, quality, and accountability to the people they serve and other key stakeholders, community service organizations strive to earn accreditation through FOCUS Accreditation Services*, a “made in Ontario” accreditation process. FOCUS’s accreditation standards were developed based on expert advice, research, and input provided by citizens of Ontario. The accreditation process is carried out by one lead and two or more peer validators, depending on the size of the organization. All validators are professionals who have extensive experience in human services.
A Message from Our CEO:
It is with great pleasure that Canopy Support Services announces that we have been successfully reaccredited by FOCUS Accreditation for another four years, from June 2022 to June 2026. Every four years, Canopy undergoes a fulsome review of the quality, safety, and risk of all of its services including people-supported centered care to assess compliance with FOCUS Accreditation standards. Based on a virtual and in-person validation in early May 2022, FOCUS Accreditation has congratulated Canopy as we met 97.9 % of all applicable standards – our highest-ever score. Additionally, Input was sought from a total of 121 individuals via virtual and onsite interviews and e-surveys where the overall response rate increased by 89% compared to our first validation.
FOCUS Accreditation recognized and commended Canopy’s solid commitment to delivering high-quality care to the people supported. Additionally, they mentioned, that Canopy Support Services helps people grow, learn new skills, overcome barriers, reach goals, and gain self-confidence. Taking an individualized approach, Canopy recognizes that everyone’s abilities and circumstances are unique and that they require different supports or solutions to achieve their best quality of life.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank everyone at Canopy for their ongoing dedication, compassion, and commitment to delivering excellent care to our people supported. This year we have faced a wide array of challenges but yet again, Canopy has continued to demonstrate delivering excellent care to people supported. The successful outcome of the FOCUS Accreditation is a pure appraisal of the excellent work being done at Canopy every day, even in these challenging times.
This is an incredible and well-deserved achievement for the staff, the Board of Directors, and the people supported we serve. We take pride in the exceptional staff here at Canopy and the invaluable services that they provide to our people supported and their families.
