Careers at Canopy Support Services

We offer exciting opportunities to advance your career.

We strive to empower individuals to overcome barriers and live their best lives. Within a welcoming, safe, accessible environment, those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) have access to individualized supports, resources, and specialized clinical services.

Taking an individualized approach, we recognize that everyone’s abilities and circumstances are unique and that they require different supports or solutions to achieve their best quality of life. Our skilled staff work together as a team. Through creativity, strong communication, and collaboration, they empower and inspire confidence in those we serve. We are a capacity-building organization. Through planning, evidence-based approaches, and proactive measures, we form a stable foundation in the lives of those we support. With knowledge and expertise, we play a part in strengthening our community and its people.

Our primary service area extends across five regions – Northumberland, Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Durham, and Haliburton – and is expanding virtually and physically to reach new areas. With a growing team of over 100 dedicated staff, we work with individuals of all ages to support them in different stages of their lives.

At Canopy Support Services, people are listened to, supported, and empowered. We find individualized solutions that build on strengths, and are inspired by best practices and rooted in community. Together, we build capacity, forming a stable foundation in the lives of those we support

“I began my journey with Canopy working as an Instructor Therapist and just started my most recent role as a Behaviour Consultant as I work towards obtaining my BCaBA designation.

I love how personable the work environment is here not only for my connection with my colleagues but the nature of our individualized approach to service as well. I truly love working in a 1:1 setting with the children and youth I am fortunate to get to know. We are such an interconnected team and that’s where our success comes from!

What keeps me motivated in my work and excited for each day is getting to celebrate those little wins! Progress for our service users is so inspiring for me and it’s what most excites me about my work at Canopy!”

Healthy Work Life Balance

The key dimension of a team member’s well being is a healthy work-life balance. We have a 35-hour work week for a majority of team members with the ability to flex any additional hours.

  • Hybrid Work Model

  • Commitment to the “Right to Disconnect”

  • Supportive, Transparent and Accessible Supervisors and Management

  • Company Pension and Benefits with a Health Spending Account

  • Competitive Wages

  • Strong Agency Values and Culture

  • Flexible work spaces and various office locations

Employee Engagement & Training

  • Fun and engaging employee activities and team challenges; such as movement challenges, bowling events and “all staff” retreat days

  • Celebration of Successes Newsletter of team member successes, anniversaries, birthdays

  • Numerous committees to participate in – Offer your Ideas!

  • Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives and Committee – Safe Spaces and cultural information sharing

  • Growth potential for team members across the agency’s diverse programs

  • Extensive training opportunities are offered both internally and externally

  • Continuous education support may be available to those that qualify

The absence of a rigid hierarchy here makes a significant difference in work place culture—from my perspective, every team member's opinion is genuinely valued and considered. The culture of "yes" fosters an environment where creativity and collaboration thrive. It’s incredibly refreshing to be in a place where we can all be our authentic selves without fear of judgment.

GroupHEALTH Benefit and Wellness Solutions

We take pride in the Employee Benefit programs to provide both employees and their dependents which contributes to their overall health & wellness. Group benefits are a valuable part of an employee’s overall compensation package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Paramedical Coverage and Employee Assistance Plan. We recently added a Health Spending account to our long list of added offerings!

Comprehensive Benefits

Defined Pension Package

Starting from your first day as a full-time permanent employee, you will be enrolled in an OPTrust Select Employer Matched Defined Pension Plan. Canopy Support Services chose to offer a Defined Benefit Pension plan to our employees because of the advantages it offers. When you retire, the pension amount you receive will be based on your pensionable pay as well as the amount of service you earn. Costs associated with investing and administering a defined benefit plan are shared among all members which results in lower fees and lower risk than alternative plans.
